COOL SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
While purposefully designed to be engaging and fun, the Education Soaring Day Program should not be viewed primarily as Day Care. Rather, it is an opportunity for students to engage with peers as they continue to develop academically and socially on days when their home schools are closed due to teacher work days, conference days or holidays.
In addition to age-appropriate instruction and activities in the specified areas of FOCUS, students will participate in structured and independent reading, writing, math, science and technology activities throughout the day. Part of each day can be devoted to homework assistance and completion if requested by parents.
A TYPICAL day might look like this:
- Short, high interest, grade-appropriate lessons
- Activities on topics of FOCUS.
- LUNCH and FREE CHOICE activities.
- Guest speaker/instructor
- Independent reading, writing and/or math work OR Homework Time. These activities could include computer time using relevant, approved programs and/or websites.
LUNCH - between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
- Part-time students may come/stay for the lunch period.
- Students need to bring a sack lunch and a beverage or water bottle.
- Refrigeration and heating are available for all participants. It is not necessary for students to bring large insulated lunch containers.
SNACKS - mid-morning and mid-afternoon
- Students may bring healthy snacks. Natural, organic foods such as granola bars, fruit, vegetables, yogurt, etc. are available for a charge.
- Fresh popcorn, popped using an air popper, will be available daily at no charge. Toppings such as salt, butter and various flavorings will be provided only with permission from parents.
